In a city where a bicycle is still the best way of getting around, it was perhaps inevitable that various delegates for today’s Marketplace would arrive on two wheels.
However, for a brave group of them, it has been the completion of a 650km ride that started in the UK at The Completely Group’s HQ in Guildford last Friday, and finished yesterday at the Beurs van Berlage.
The Cycle to Amsterdam for Completely Retail Marketplace was the latest collaboration between specialist charity bike ride organisers, Club Peloton, and The Completely Group. Completely’s Chief Executive, Dom Millar, comments: “After a four-day trip which included the cobbled Oude Kwaremont Climb in Belgium, we were all glad to see the gentler topography of the ride into Amsterdam.
“It was a brilliant trip and a great way for those involved to get to know each other better ahead of the event. Most importantly, it has raised a substantial amount of money for the excellent charitable causes that Club Peloton supports.” Dom Millar reports: “We got a tremendous reception as our ‘orange blur’ moved from town to town passing through four countries along the way. Needless to say, people on the Continent love their cycling and were intrigued to hear about our route and why we were heading to Amsterdam”.
